They wandered downstream with the intention of finding some food, but unbeknownst to them the current was so strong that they were unable to return to the camp where the rest of their people were waiting for them. There was no return.
So begins one of the most mind-blowing and mind-boggling journeys in human history. A group of Spaniards, led by Francisco de Orellana, will let themselves be swept along for four thousand kilometers by the current of the greatest river in the world: the Amazon. These are not men who can be easily surprised. However, the scenerey around them becomes implacable. Everything is unthinkably new: animals, sounds, vegetation, people, situations, perspectives. No one has ever undergone such an experience. A four thousand kilometers journey, guided solely by the current.
This is the story of an unrepeatable adventure. Of the men who travelled the Amazon River before anyone else. And who, of course, fought against the women who gave it its name.
